FIB-SEM dataset of 7d hydrated alite prepared using laser-ablation
This dataset contains a FIB-SEM volume of a 7-day hydrated alite sample. The sample was prepared using an fs-laser to obtain a large volume and sliced using a Ga-FIB-SEM. The dataset was prepared as a proof of concept demonstrating the applicability of fs-laser preparation for hydrated cementitious materials, and to gain knowledge about the damage induced using this method.
The dataset contains two aligned image stacks of SEM-BSE images. The first tiff-stack (slice number 30 to 405) shows a lot of artefacts due to a too thin protective layer on top of the volume. The second tiff-stack (slice number 411 to 623) however results in a segmentable volume. The slice distance was set to 20 nm. However, the slice process was not stable, and the slice thickness varies significantly throughout the volume. Furthermore, a height map (height_map.7z) was measured using a confocal microscope (Keyence VK X3000) which is available as CSV, CAG (Project file for MultiFileAnalyzer) and VK4 (Keyence specific raw data) files. The lower preparation site was used to acquire the volume. In addition, a series of tilt images was created to assess the quality of the laser preparation.
