Synchrotron X-ray nano-tomography datasets of unhydrated and 12, 16 and 20h hydrated tricalcium silicate particles
Reconstructed synchrotron X-ray nano-tomography (PXCT) datasets of unhydrated (0h) and hydrated (12h, 16h, 20 h) tricalcium silicate (C3S) embedded in epoxy resin. The C3S was sieved to a particle size <10 µm. For the hydration, 15 g of C3S was mixed with 45 g filtered, saturated Ca(OH)2-solution and 0.10 g superplasticiser at 25 °C. After 12, 16 and 20 h a sample of the suspension was taken, filtered and dried at 60 °C. The sample was then embedded in epoxy resin, which was pulled to thin filaments. These filaments were then cut into 1-2 mm segments. Filaments with a diameter of ~ 100 µm were selected and then scanned using PXCT. A more detailed description of the specimen preparation can be found in the respective journal paper (DOI: 10.1016/j.cemconres.2022.106769). [Replace tt with 0, 12, 16 or 20 in the following text.] The 16-bit datasets are compressed using 7zip and can be opened in VG Studio. However, the datasets are stored as *.tif stack in the subfolder "./[vg-data] tth/volume_1/", which can be loaded using other programs. All datasets contain a tth_config.png with a detailed screenshot of the dataset parameters. An overview can be found in this table: As preview, videos of the image stack are included as *.mp4 (x265) for every volume.
